I’m Carolina Nesi and I’m the founder of DULI Delft.
Originally from Brazil, I studied psychology and went on to work in the corporate world of Human Resources and Development…yet children and their education has always been very important to me. I spent my life dreaming of ways to combine my passion for the development of children and literature, with my business skills.
And that’s how DULI began – the bookstore and workshop centre of my dreams.
I came to The Netherlands on relocation through my job in Oil & Gas. When looking for extra-curricular activities for my children, I soon realised that all after-school clubs and children’s books were in Dutch. That’s when something clicked in my mind. Why not start my own choice of extra-curricular workshops in English? After my first year here, I started to head in the direction of my vision.
After I left my job in Oil & Gas, I decided to work at my children’s international school organizing after-school activities. Using my skills in HR I was able to recruit and select teachers, and co-ordinate clubs offering and activities. After two years of running successful courses at three local schools I couldn’t wait any longer – it was time to make my dream come true.
In March 2018 the DULI Delft Bookstore was opened in the heart of Delft. It’s a bright and airy space that doubles as both an international language bookshop and a space to host children and adult workshops and courses. We offer a mini cafe, a play area and sell some really great books and toys for children.
I love my job. Being in a bookstore, working with fantastic teachers and workshop leaders, and watching children explore, discover and learn is pure joy. My aim is for everyone to see that it’s never too late to learn something different and discover a new passion. I’ve found mine!
